Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria - A life in pictures
at the Museum of the Bavarian Kings in Hohenschwangau
Luitpold's long life gave him a special insight into the fortunes and needs of the monarchy and society. Over the course of his life, the world changed enormously. Public life, the monarchy, economy and technology adapted to modern times in which the population demanded more self-determination and political participation and pushed the monarchy in new directions. In Luitpold's almost one hundred years of life, technology advanced and changed social life noticeably. Aviation achieved great success and automobiles were conquering the streets more and more. He devoted his life entirely to serving the Bavarian Kingdom. Although he was confronted with significant hostility at the beginning of his reign, Luitpold became one of the most popular heads of state in the Kingdom of Bavaria, thanks to his down-to-earth, affable and humble manner.
In the special exhibition "Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria - A life in pictures”, the Museum of the Bavarian Kings traces the eventful life of the Prince Regent with over 90 picture documents. The exhibition can be visited until July 2022 and is integrated in the rooms of the museum's permanent exhibition.
