Welcome

The Museum of the Bavarian Kings in Hohenschwangau, which displays the history of the Wittelsbach dynasty from its beginnings to the present day, was opened in September 2011.
The exhibition focuses on Maximilian II, who commissioned the conversion of the Hohenschwangau Castle into his summer residence, and on his son, King Ludwig II, the creator of Neuschwanstein Castle. The exhibits present vivid views into the surrounding landscape and castles, using modern interactive museum technologies. The museum provides tours in several languages and differing levels of complexity in order to meet the varying requirements of our visitors from Germany and abroad, offering a gratifying experience even for those on a tight time schedule.  The exhibition is owned and organized by the Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds, Munich.

We wish you a pleasant and interesting visit to our museum.
