In order to prevent the spread of COVID19, the availability of guided tours is currently strongly limited.

Reopening dates
Neuschwanstein Castle is reopened for guided tours since June 2, 2020.
Hohenschwangau Castle is reopened for extended tours since June 6, 2020.
The Museum of the Bavarian Kings is reopened since May 29, 2020.
The Ticket Center Hohenschwangau is reopened since June 2, 2020.

Ticket availability
Regular tickets for the royal palaces can be purchased again in our online ticket shop since May 29, 2020.
Tickets with a reduced tariff for the royal castles, as well as free tickets for beneficiaries, are available since June 2, 2020 in the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau.
Tickets for the Museum of the Bavarian Kings are available in the museum since May 29, 2020.

Please note that reservations confirmed by the Ticket Center before March 17th, 2020 have been canceled.

Protective measures, hygiene and distance rules
Protective measures to contain COVID19, hygiene and distance rules for the sights and public facilities in Hohenschwangau.
Medically certified exemptions from the mask requirement cannot be taken into account.

Information for wheelchair users
Due to restrictions and protective measures, people who are dependent on a wheelchair cannot currently visit the royal palaces. We will inform you here as soon as there are changes to the restrictions. Thank you for your understanding.

Children and adolescents
Please note that children and toddlers also need a valid ticket to enter Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau.

Where to buy tickets

Regular tickets for adults and children for Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle are available on the official online ticket store
Tickets for the Museum of the Bavarian Kings are available on premise at the museum.

Tickets for the Royal Castles with reduced tariffs and free tickets for beneficiaries are only available in the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau.

Visit of the Royal Castles and the Museum

Visiting Neuschwanstein castle and Hohenschwangau castle is only possible as part of a guided tour at a fixed admission time. All castle tours take place with a limited capacity due to COVID19 protection measures. Guided tours are offered in German and English or with a portable Audio Guide device. For Audio-Guide tours you will receive the portable Audio-Guide device in the Castles and will be assisted by your tour guide.

People who are dependent on a wheelchair cannot currently take part in the guided tours in the royal palaces.

Hohenschwangau Castle can currently only be visited as part of the special tour “Pearl of Romanticism” (approx. 45 minutes). Due to the length of the tour, the extended tours are generally not recommended for children under the age of 6.

The visit to the museum is not time-bound. You can experience the museum at your own pace.
