Animals / Pets

It is strictly forbidden to take animals inside all sights. It is also forbidden to take them in bags or rucksacks inside the sights.

 

 

 

Bus to Neuschwanstein Castle

The shuttle-bus to Neuschwanstein Castle can not be reserved. 
Start: in front of Schlosshotel Lisl
Terminal: Marys bridge (above Neuschwanstein Castle)

Rates: 
uphill: € 1,80
downhill:  € 1,00 
up- and downhill:  € 2,60
You pay at the cashier at the bus sation in front of the Schlosshotel Lisl or directly to the bus driver.

!Please note!
You need to walk appr. 15 minutes from the terminal "Marys bridge" to the entrance of Neuschwanstein Castle or 5 minutes to the Marys bridge. 

During the summer time there are significant queues on the bus stations. 

The shuttle bus only operates in suitable weather conditions (no snow or ice).

 

 

 

Bicycle

There are bicycle stands opposite the Museum of the Bavarian Kings. 

 

Bagagge

The baggage can be stored at the Tourist Information Center in Hohenschwangau until 5.30 p.m. A baggage fee will be charged. You find the Tourist information Center next to the public bus station of Hohenschwangau.

 

 

Buggies

It is permitted to take buggies inside the sights.

 

 

 

Car

The road to Neuschwanstein Castle is absolutly closed for cars. To get more information about the different parking possibilities in Hohenschwangau click here please. 

 

Caddies

It is permitted to take caddies inside the sights.

 

Collection of Tickets

You have to collect your reserved tickets at the counter "reserved tickets" in the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau 1 hour before the confirmed entrance time . Otherwise your ticket will lose its validity and cannot be refunded.
The collection of reserved tickets is only possible at the day of your castle visit. 
The ticket reservation can be cancelled or changed free of charge until 2 hours before your confirmed entrance time. 

 

Horse Carriages to Neuschwanstein Castle...

.. can not be reserved. 
Start: in front of Hotel Müller
Terminal: below Neuschwanstein Castle

uphill: € 6,00
downhill: € 3,00
You pay directly to the horse carriage driver
Duration: 20 minutes

!Important Notice!
The horse carriages do not drive directly to the main entrance of Neuschwanstein Castle. You need to walk approx. 15 minutes uphill from the terminal.

 

 

Horse Carriages to Hohenschwangau Castle

...can not be reserved.
Start: in front of the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau
Terminal: Hohenschwangau Castle

downhill: € 2,00
You pay directly to the horse carriage driver.
Duration: 10 minutes

Please note.....

... there will be no horse carriage transfer to Hohenschwangau Castle from November 1st 2014.

 

 

Cancellation

The cancellation deadline ends 2 hours before your confirmed entrance time. If you fail to meet the deadline we will charge you the reservation fee. 

 

 

 

Duration of the guided tour

Neuschwanstein Castle: approx. 30 minutes
Hohenschwangau Castle: approx. 35 minutes

 

 

 

Entrance time

You find your entrance time on your ticket. It is very important to be at this time at the entrance of the castle. Otherwise your ticket will lose its validity and can not be refunded. The entrance time is written on your ticket as "Einlasszeit". 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Guided Tour

Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle can only be visited within a guided tour.

 

 

 

Handicapped

Hohenschwangau Castle
There is no elevator in Hohenschwangau Castle. During the tour you have to pass 90 steps.

Museum oft he bavarian kings
The Museum is handicapped free so it can be visited be walking handicapped people easily on their own.

Neuschwanstein Castle
For walking handicapped people there is the possibility to join a regular guided tour. Please notice that it is necessary to make a reservation. A reservation fee will be charged. (€ 1,80 per person and castle)

Queue

During the high season there are significant waiting times in front of the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau.

 

 

 

Reservation

The ticket reservation is possible if there is enough availability. Reservations are only possible until 2 days before your day of visit. You have to collect the reserved tickets until 1 hour before your confirmed entrance time at the counter "reserved tickets" at the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau.

Reservations for the same day are not possible.

We will charge a reservation fee for ticket reservations for Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle. 
Fee: € 1,80 per person / castle
Fee (Groups from 15 persons): € 0,90 per person / castle

State Road is closed

  

Dear visitors,

due to tree fellings the state road 2008 (Staatsstraße 2008) between Alterschrofen und Hohenschwangau is completly closed from November 24th until 27th 2014.

A diversion will be signposted. 

 

 

 

Ticket sale in Hohenschwangau

The tickets for Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle can only be purchased in the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau and only on the day of your visit. 

Reservations for the same day are not possible.

For a trouble-free visit of the castles, we recommend the reservation of the tickets.
